GOMEZ, Walter. The Quensungual Agroforestry System in El Salvador: Study case. Multequina [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.1, pp.55-63. ISSN 1852-7329.
The increase of tree cutting due to the agricultural frontier advances joining to burn of stubble and monocultures have made El Salvador a country with a high rate of natural resources destroyed in Latin America. A possible alternative of sustainable agricultural production is the agroforestry. In the sub-humid with dry period areas of the country exists a traditional agroforestry technique named quensungual. It was developed by the Lenca ethnic and was generation to generation maintained by farmers. The system has shown important contributions such as: soil erosion reduction, increase in soil fertility, stable production, etc.
