Resumen

BEIDER, Adriana et al. Recovery of areas affected by hydrocarbons. Monitoring of low-impact interventions. Multequina [online]. 2021, vol.30, n.2, pp.265-274. ISSN 1852-7329.

Oil activity impacts the environment producing changes in its structure and function. Working with low-impact techniques on the soil and vegetation allows the functions of an affected ecosystem to be maintained or recovered more quickly. The objective of the work is to present the results obtained in the first surveys carried out in an area affected by a hydrocarbon spill in the form of a spray. Aspects of the ecosystem that gave evidence of a natural attenuation process of the pollutant were evaluated, without intervention or with low-impact interventions. Structural aspects of the ecosystem were determined by analyzing the physical-chemical properties of the soils, the seed bank and the levels of HCs present in the soil and vegetation, and of the functioning through productivity estimates (through remote sensors). The results obtained so far, show in the evaluated period, evidence of a natural attenuation process, which allows to conclude that, in events with the characteristics of the one described in this work, this tool is feasible to apply in arid and semi-arid environments, with minimal or no interventions on the ecosystem.
