STEVERLYNCK, Alejandro M.; CASTELLI, Roberto y SAROTTO, Aníbal J.. Coligne spine instrumentation system: Analysis and results. Rev. Asoc. Argent. Ortop. Traumatol. [online]. 2009, vol.74, n.4, pp.347-354. ISSN 1852-7434.
Background: We present the results of our experience using a titanium transpedicular osteosynthesis system made in Argentina (Coligne), and compare it with those reported in other national and international studies. Methods: 1075 patients were operated on between January 2003 and April 2007. Mean age (± SD) was 47.6 (± 11.5) yr (range: 18-76 yr). 51.8% males and 48.2% females. Instrumental arthrodeses of thoracolumbar, lumbar and lumbosacral spine were performed in patients owing to degenerative spinal disorders, listhesis, tumors, fracture-dislocations, short deformities, and failed disc surgery. Results: Pseudoarthrosis 6%, infections 7%, dural injury 1.9%, addition syndrome 2.8%, internal fixation breakage (screw 2.8% - rod 0.5%), failed instrumentation with neurological damage 1.4%, screw loosening 2.3%, disassembly 0.9%. Conclusions: This system is frequently used in the domestic market, covers most of the indications for instrumented stabilization of the spine, and offers biomechanical advantages similar to other spine fixation systems, achieving a high percentage of bone fusion. In our hands, complication rates are similar to those of other national and international series.
