Resumen

CANTARELLI, Violeta; RAMPA, Daniel  y  GRATTONE, Mariel. Two height sites in Sierra del Cajón. The current state of research in the archaeological locality Pichanal, Catamarca province. Zaranda ideas [online]. 2014, vol.10, pp.9-28. ISSN 1853-1296.

We present two archaeological sites located in Sierra del Cajón, Catamarca Province, that were occupied in the Late Period (ca. 1000-1430). Both are part of the Archaeological Locality of Pichanal placed in the homonymous brook. Their study provides us information that allows us to expand our knowledge of sites located in the inner mountain ranges which locate between 2600 and 2800 meters above sea level. The main goal is to characterize Pichanal 3 and 4 using the results given by the analysis tasks made. A sketch map of Pichanal 3 site was made and ceramic fragments collected in surface and in statigraphic excavation were also studied. In Pichanal 4 the ceramic fragments of the site were studied as well; and spatial analysis upon superficial ceramic was made. Also a map was made, and was determined the construction technique used; sediments samples were analized. We argue, in the light of results, the possible link between both sites, posing a complementary relationship based on a pastoral economy.
