PEY, Laura. Methodological Design for a land production potential model in an agricultural andean site. Zaranda ideas [online]. 2017, vol.15, n.2, pp.113-134. ISSN 1853-1296.
This article summarizes the methodological steps taken in order to develop a land production potential model in an archaeological agricultural site located in Quebrada de Pajchela (Grande de San Juan River upper basin, Jujuy Puna). The main tool used to achieve this objective is a Geographical Information System. For expository purposes, the methodology is divided into three work phases. The first one is related to the development of the archaeological database -in which a site s vectorial model is obtained-; the second one corresponds to the development of the geophysical database -where soil maps, hill slopes, hill aspects and geological formation maps are derived from a Digital Elevation Model and other sources; the third one corresponds to the development of the model taking as a reference a series of possible Andean crops. Results have demonstrated that, according to its geophysical characteristics, the site is located in one of the most optimal locations for agricultural development.
