In Tartagal (Salta, Argentina) on February 9th, 2009, an avalanche of water, mud and trees broke out towards the city, causing dos deaths, a dozen of missing persons and more than a thousand people were displaced. In this work, we explore the experiences of people in forced displacement in the disaster situation. A fieldwork with a qualitative approach was carried out applying 23 qualitative interviews. Among the results, the trauma caused by the disaster situation itself was highlighted, and subsequently the one that generated the forced displacement of the population towards the post-disaster shelter sites, due to the organizational difficulties that were generated during the time they were displaced and the permanence during several weeks in suboptimal conditions of displacement.
