CHIARA, Camila. Habitat types: a theoretical tool to know the urban structure of a peripheral municipality in Gran Buenos Aires Agglomeration. Estudios Socioterritoriales [online]. 2021, vol.30, pp.90-90. ISSN 1853-4392. http://dx.doi.org/10.37838/unicen/est.30-304.
As part of urban demography studies, specifically those focused on the spatial dimension of population differentials, the article aims to know the different habitat types that forms the municipality of San Fernando in 2010, and investigate the socio-demographic specificities for each of them. This analytical proposal -which comes from the Mexican geo-demography and was replicated in Argentina for Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires- considers that the period of urbanization and the form of production residential space in different areas of the city define different habitat types and print them a series of differential and differentiated traits, characteristics and dynamics. To approach the proposed objective, a quantitative methodological strategy based on secondary data sources is used. As a result, it seeks to determine and identify those habitat types that make up the municipality and then investigate the socio-demographic characteristics for each of them.
