Resumen

MARTIN, Diego. Milan Pact and Urban Food Strategies: Pre-Pandemic Answers for a Post-Pandemic World?. Temas debates (En línea) [online]. 2020, n.40, suppl.1, pp.495-502. ISSN 1853-984X.

Starting from the analyzes that suggest that the modes of food production and consumption and the global urbanization process are important causal factors of the current pandemic, we wonder about the potential of the public responses that many local governments implement to build sustainable food schemes, which would prevent us from facing scenarios like the current one in the future. In this sense, we analyze the global framework of sustainable food policy designed by the international alliance of local governments called “Milan Pact” and its influence on the development of urban food strategies in different cases. Highlighting the comprehensiveness and innovative character of the public response that cities propose and implement, we conclude that it is necessary to promote an international agenda that seriously discusses the transformation of food production and consumption modes, in which local governments should not be absent.

Palabras clave : Milan Urban Food Policy Pact; International agendas; Urban food strategies.
