Resumen

DALLAGLIO, Lucila M. T.  y  MATALUNA, Mariana. From high school to university. A comparative study of three South American educational institutions about school choice. Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2020, n.53, pp.71-85. ISSN 1995-7785.

The aim of the present article is to ask, through a comparative approach, how the university admission systems are set in two Latin-Americans countries: Brazil and Argentina. In the Argentinian case, an empirical research was carried out with students from the Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires and from San Andrés University. In the Brazilian case, students from the Escola de Aplicação of the University of São Paulo were interviewed. The methodological approach is qualitative. Interviews with 56 students were carried between 2012 and 2015. The testimonies address different views of the interface between school education and higher education, bringing the “voice” of the protagonists around the school system, the transition to Higher education and expectations regarding their social trajectories. Given that this article is framed in two different doctoral investigations, its challenge is to seek a comparative approach that allows illuminating the motivations of students in the educational choice in each local reality to learn more about the differences and similarities between the two countries.

Palabras clave : Higher education; Middle education; Argentina; Brazil; Educative choice.
