JACINTO, CLAUDIA; FUENTES, SEBASTIÁN y MONTES, NANCY. Interrelationships between social and educational inequalities in secondary education. A theoretical, multidimensional and (post) pandemic review. Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2022, n.57, pp.12-30. ISSN 1995-7785.
The article unfolds the different perspectives of analysis that address the relationships between educational and social inequalities, reviewing the traditional categories used to look at inequality at the secondary level.
It examines the contributions of the last decades of sociology of education and social sciences in general, revisiting the concepts of reproduction, resistance, subjectivation, segmentation and fragmentation that occupy key interpretative milestones for the understanding of educational inequalities. Likewise, more recent developments that emphasize territorial and multidimensional analyses, including inter- and intra-categorical differentiations with greater explanatory capacity, are presented.
Based on this state of the art, the conceptualizations and strategies of analysis of educational inequalities linked to the pandemic context are considered. Acknowledging the deepening of inequalities, it is argued that addressing them in this period implies recognizing previous and persistent social and educational inequalities, in order to detect the emergence of new expressions and reconfigurations of educational inequalities at the policy level, at the intermediate government level and at the institutional level.
