Resumen

OLIVARES, Julián. Diferenciación y flexibilización de la secundaria para jóvenes y adultos durante las décadas de 1970-1980 en Argentina y la provincia de Buenos Aires. Hist. educ. anu. [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.2, pp.41-50. ISSN 2313-9277.

With more than half a century of life, secondary education for youth and adults has had an important growth in Argentina in recent history. In this sense, as is the case in general with the rest of the educational system, it is common for research in this regará to indícate that its evolution was affected by educational differentiation during the 1990s and by the expansion of policies to make flexible the school formats during the XXI century. However, these phenomena have been less observed during the 1970s and 1980s. Therefore, this article aims to analyze the existence of educational differentiation and flexibility processes during the seventies and eighties in the secondary education for youth and adults in Argentina and the province of Buenos Aires. To do this, a qualitative approach is used, appealing to primary and secondary sources to explore, from a chronological perspective, the changes and continuities in the historical evolution of the secondary offers of the modality in those years. The supported hypothesis is that the development of the middle school for youth and adults during those decades was produced through the creation of schooling proposals that were based to a certain degree on the flexibility of the common secondary school formats (but without leaving them aside completely), which implied a differentiation of these with the traditional middle school, as well as between the various offers of the modality.
