Resumen

PEREZ CALARCO, Martín. On that rough occasion. Solanas, Marechal, Borges: The Martín Fierro in the heat of the return of Perón. CELEHIS [online]. 2016, n.32, pp.100-113. ISSN 2313-9463.

After its final canonization around the celebration of the first Centenario, the Martin Fierro by José Hernández was definitively installed in the center of the Argentinean culture; from then on, it became a propitious text for the interpretation of the whole national history, and therefore its legitimate reading would remain in dispute. In the early 1970s, before the announced and then actual return of Juan Domingo Perón to Argentina, Fernando "Pino" Solanas and Jorge Luis Borges would develop their interpretations of the immediate context by re-reading the national poem from irreconcilable ideological positions. At the same time, the death of Leopoldo Marechal would encourage the rediscovery of his reading of the Martin Fierro, linked to the first Peronism, by the young militants who had staged the process of political radicalization since the end of the previous decade. This paper addresses critically and contextually the texts on which this dispute was sustained, showing that, although these readings display the marks of divergent ideological positions, they do so with remarkable similarity in their procedures.

Palabras clave : Martín Fierro - Re-readings - Borges - Solanas - Marechal.
