Resumen

ORTIZ PADILLA, Yolanda. The scattered fragments of the Saludador in the dramaturgy of Roberto Cossa. CELEHIS [online]. 2017, n.34, pp.1-10. ISSN 2313-9463.

In this work we will approach a series of pieces in which one of the obsessions that cross the theater of Cossa appears: the failure of the man in his attempt to transform reality and, in particular, the failure of the left. This fetish theme is often embodied in a character we might call the "idealist pursuing utopia." This character can be tracked already in his first theater - Pablo in La Pata de la Sota (1967) or the "Comité Central" in El avión negro (1970) -, although he will gain special relevance in his second theater stage, in works such as Ya nadie recuerda a Fréderic Chopin (1982), De pies y manos (1984), Angelito (1991), Viejos conocidos (1994) and El Saludador (1999). The traits that define this idealistic character are determined by the self-criticism of our playwright who is committed to constructing theatrical worlds that concern his own wound. This will involve two essential constructive procedures: the ambivalent perspective and black humor.

Palabras clave : Argentine theater - Roberto Cossa - Socialism - Idealist - Utopia.
