In this article, we analyze the law of Good Agricultural Practices of the province of Córdoba (Argentina) in relation to the problem of the use of agrochemicals. In pursuit of this objective, we investigate different official and periodistic documents associated with the law in order to reconstruct the hegemonic narrative that is built around GAP and the agrochemical issue. We also recover materials from the fieldwork of our ongoing research to account for the daily presence of this hegemonic narrative in rural contexts. The central proposition of this paper is that the law of Good Agricultural Practices of the province of Córdoba constitutes a communication strategy aimed at dismissing social criticism about the environmental and health effects of agrochemicals.
