Resumen

RUEDA BARBOZA, María Inés. Imposted authorships and silenced protagonisms. An analysis of the emergence of female voices in El Zonda (San Juan, 1839). Rev. hist. am. argent. [online]. 2024, vol.59, n.1, e006.  Epub 03-Jun-2024. ISSN 2314-1549.  http://dx.doi.org/10.48162/rev.44.057.

In San Juan there´s no evidence -at least for the 19th century- of newspapers that were written by and for women. The local press, aimed primarily at the male readership, had few spaces explicitly built for female readers. El Zonda, published in 1839, was the first newspaper to write about women, to consider them part of the reading public and to give them -fictionally- a space for their voices. The present work seeks to replace the latter, attending not only to the conditions that made their intervention in the newspaper possible, but also to the purposes and resources that were used by their authors. We are interested in investigating the moments of emergence of the feminine word, but also in the silences and absences.

Palabras clave : Female voices; El Zonda; San Juan; press, XIX century.
