With the advent of the new coronavirus pandemic, social media is playing an important role in communication. The aim of this article was to analyze the publications on Instagram® of the Federal Council of Physical Education during the pandemic, emphasizing the activities of dissemination and communication with physical education professionals and the general population to combat the coronavirus. Netnographic research was used, with a quanti-qualitative analysis of the publications. From the beginning of the pandemic to July 1st 2021, 96 posts were made on the social network. Of these, 53 were linked to the pandemic. The physical education professionals’ demand for assistance from the Council during this period was verified as well as the content of the publications with the biomedical perspective of health. Furthermore, in the first half of 2021, there was a significant reduction in publications involving the pandemic, the period in which the country reached its highest death toll. Although there is vast information reinforcing the importance of physical exercises at this time and exercises suggestions, more collective approaches were expected from the Council to health and intensification of the dissemination about the care needed to face the pandemic, such as vaccination.
