BARTESAGHI, Ignacio. Relations Between Latin America and India in The Brics Context: The role of Brazil. Relac. int. [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.49, pp.127-148. ISSN 2314-2766.

Academic studies on Latin America and India have gained ground in recent years, although less so than those devoted to China, which still hogging the spotlight. Still, in recent years there is some consensus that is vital to expand the analysis of relations with Asia Pacific beyond China. That's why they gain increasing importance in the academic, government and business studies focused on India analysis and other Asia Pacific countries and even on ASEAN members, because it is a country and a region that displays important transformations. Trade relations between Latin America and India have increased significantly in recent years, although less so than with China. It is vital that Latin America will not rest in the relationship with China and recognize the enormous potential of other Asian countries, devoting efforts and analysis similar to another great player, India. This country shared strategic interests and objectives with the largest economy in Latin America, Brazil, through forums such as IBSA and BRICS already known. Undoubtedly, both actors occupy a privileged place in geopolitical terms, so it is interesting to explore how Brazil can use this platform of emerging economies to deepen their relationship with India at all levels, not only economic, which may be will benefit throughout the region.

Palabras clave : BRICS; Latin America; India; Brazil; Asia Pacific.
