Resumen

KAZIMIERSKI, Martín  y  ARGENTO, Melisa. Más allá del petróleo. En el umbral de la acumulación por desfosilización. Relac. int. [online]. 2021, vol.30, n.61, pp.209-225. ISSN 2314-2766.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.24215/23142766e142.

While the reduction of conventional oil reserves introduced a new phase in fossil capitalism linked to the production of extreme energies, the devastating consequences of global warming implied a tightening of emission reduction policies, thus accelerating both the energy and financial transition towards a post-fossil future. This study proposes an analysis around the particular type of capital accumulation installed in this context, starting by asking the following question: what are the new economic and financial strategies that are deployed in the framework of post-fossil capitalism? This article proposes the category of “accumulation by de-fossilization” to characterize the contemporary phenomenon that takes the negative environmental contradictions of capitalism in order to monetize the dismantling of its fossil productive nucleus towards a new “sustainable” accumulation model.

Palabras clave : accumulation; dephosilization; divestment; peak oil; climate change; renewable energy; energy transition.
