Resumen

GOMEZ PINTUS, Ana. Countryside neighbourhoods and weekend´s divisions into lots in Buenos Aires´suburbs: 1910-1950. An. Inst. Arte Am. Investig. Estét. Mario J. Buschiazzo [online]. 2011, vol.41, n.2, pp.113-132. ISSN 2362-2024.

Between 1910 and 1950 decades we could see  the growing of a singular suburb- which would be later named Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area , associated to modern ways of living which combined summer or weekend residence with a sports or landscaping´s offer of an area. Focus, at the beginning, to the living of middle and high class people, this kind of offer would be extensive to other areas during this period. In a wide context, we try to recognize the centre´s role and suburban´s undertaking in the creation of the metropolitan area. Particularly we are going to focus on the analysis of some urban figures which those division into lots were consolidated, and on the images and ways of living of the ones who associated. We preliminary notice that in the local environment, the country side neighborhood model was chosen by a number of associations and ways of living that referred. However, the pragmatic attitude which was put into practice , was gradually spacing out from the aspirations which one day have given birth to it; so that a big number of urbanizations tried to capitalize the prestige that goes with this name adopting, as a main characteristic , the low density.

Palabras clave : Urban growth; Suburbs; Greater Buenos Aires.
