Resumen
ABOY, Rosa. Mafalda at home: Middle class appartments and everyday life in the sixties. An. Inst. Arte Am. Investig. Estét. Mario J. Buschiazzo [online]. 2011, vol.41, n.2, pp.179-188. ISSN 2362-2024.
The article analyzes the representations and ways of living in Buenos Aires' middle-classes homes. The source for this is the comic Mafalda, created by Joaquin Lavado - better known as Quino - in the 1960s. Lavado explored the option of looking reality through the eyes of a little girl who started school at the beginning of the story. Mafalda's eyes work as an entrance door to the social and urban changes related to middle- class apartments which, due to the Ley de Propiedad Horizontal, were built in many Buenos Aires neighborhoods. Mafalda's representations on her family apartment, on her family itself, and on everyday life are employed as a looking glass to illuminate middle class contemporary ideas on small apartments, built for the less privileged families from that social strata.
