Resumen
NOUFOURI, Hamurabi. Since we were forbidden to be arab: Intercultural costs of credulity in the orientalist Deficiencies Trilogy. An. Inst. Arte Am. Investig. Estét. Mario J. Buschiazzo [online]. 2021, vol.51, n.2, pp.1-30. ISSN 2362-2024.
This work addresses the cognitive damages of racism implied by credulity in the Trilogy of Deficiencies (the myths of the figurative taboo, of the ignorance of the perspective and of the “horror vacui”) that is still taught in Euro-American Public Education. Not only as a condition of the description and even definition of Islamic Art and Design, but as an exclusive border of the Western canon, since the prohibition of being arabs became a necessary condition of westernity. Not without first offering, of course, some of the alternative interpretations of which the eugenic disqualifications of that Trilogy deprive us.
