Resumen
AVENDANO, Ayansi. The "patio house" made of wood and sheet metal in the Historic Center of San Salvador. Study of their compositional patterns for cultural assessmen. An. Inst. Arte Am. Investig. Estét. Mario J. Buschiazzo [online]. 2023, vol.53, n.1, pp.6-6. ISSN 2362-2024.
Domestic architecture built in wood, stamped steel sheets and deployed metal constituted the homogenous and innovative urban landscape of the late 19th and early 20th centuries in the capital of El Salvador. Even when it was built after the independence from Spain it continued reproducing the colonial courtyard house spatial organization with Andalusian roots. Unfortunately, very few of these houses are preserved nowadays. This work is presented as a contribution to the enhancement of this architecture that today constitutes the modest housing heritage of the current Historical Center of San Salvador. Through the interpretation of its spatial organization, a compositive synthesis or geometric model is proposed, in order to summarize these three architectural elements.
