That is why the concern for hygiene in Mexican housing became the main axis between technological development, urban-architectural, interior and industrial designs from the second half of the 19th Century to the first half of the 20th Century. In this article it is suggested that the concepts proposed by the medical-sanitary theories of hygienic were the ones that fostered the transformations in housing, which nurtured the architectural theories, and from which the design proposals that promoted the ideas of modernity through newspapers and magazines came from.
