This article analyzes the case of home repair services offered through digital platforms, recovering the perspective of involved handymen, to then reflect on the labor conditions that are being configured around the exercise of different trades within the sector under this modality. In the framework of the scarcity of systematized studies of this universe of workers, the particularities of their profiles and the influence of the work dynamics proposed by the platform on working conditions will be analyzed, inquiring about the existence of professionalization processes in the modality offer of home repair services via digital platforms. These processes refer to a set of factors, ranging from the transition from the condition of informality to the registration of these workers; the standardization of working practice and prices of the services offered; the incorporation of new payment systems and the inclusion of these services into the banking system (thus allowing regulation); and, finally, the incentive for professional training and certification of knowledge and abilities. To carry out the analysis, the information derived from 20 in-depth interviews with workers and a survey applied to 300 providers of the platform was recovered. The field work and the survey were carried out in the context of the pandemic, incorporating a new topic to the question of future projection in the scenario of uncertainties present in all levels of life.
