MOZZONI, Julieta. Timed function tests in ambulatory patients with neuromuscular disease. Argentinian j. respiratory physical therapy [online]. 2022, vol.4, n.3, pp.49-53. ISSN 2618-4095. http://dx.doi.org/10.58172/ajrpt.v4i3.231.
Neuromuscular diseases are characterized by progressive muscle weakness, affecting ambulation and performance of functional activities, such as transfers, running, jumping, and climbing or descending ramps or stairs.
Timed function tests are tools that measure the time to perform specific functional tasks and allow us to objectively assess motor impairment in ambulatory patients.
This study describes the procedures to perform the four most frequently used timed tests for the assessment and follow-up of ambulatory patients with neuromuscular disease: rise from floor test, 10 meter walk/run test, and 4 stair climb test.
