Chagas disease is an endemic parasitic disease in Latin America. In recent years it has become a global public health problem due to the migration of infected people. Echocardiography is one of the most versatile and non-invasive tests used in the initial evaluation of patients with Chagas' disease. In recent decades, new techniques of cardiac imaging have emerged, such as magnetic resonance imaging and echocardiography with speckle tracking, which allow for evidence of alterations in myocardial performance in patients with positive serology, asymptomatic and with normal conventional echocardiography, that is to say without demonstrable cardiomyopathy. These findings open a door for research and development strategies that benefit the evolution and prognosis of those affected with Chagas' disease.
