VACCARONI, Agustina. Policing practices in the May Revolution: An approach to relationships between the watchers and the watched in Buenos Aires (1812-1821). Rev. hist. derecho [online]. 2016, n.52, pp.167-189. ISSN 1853-1784.
In this paper we propose an approach to policing practices that are configured as part in the frame of the revolutionary decade in Buenos Aires . After a tour of the most important historiographical contributions for the study of the police in the nineteenth century, and after we make reference to its structure in the proposed period, this paper dedicates to the analysis of practices that carry out both police leaders and his assistants, in order to investigate how such practices are stained by contact and by the relationship between the guards and the guarded, on the one hand, and the political dispute of the ongoing projects, on the other. As part of a slow but steady process that presents the construction of police structures with features home-fatherly type combined with new political objectives derived from revolutionary politics, we see to what extent the police and those who must control share certain experiences and forms of action.
