The genus Centronycteris (Chiroptera: Emballonuridae) comprises two species, C. maximiliani and C. centralis, which are considered rare, despite their wide distributions, because of their low local densities. Both species have been registered in Colombia; however, the knowledge on their distribution is limited, and the presence of C. maximiliani in the country is uncertain. A review of the distribution of bats of the genus Centronycteris in Colombia confirmed the presence of C. maximiliani in Colombia, based on a record from the West of the Guiana Biogeographic Province, extending the known distribution the range of species 672 km west from the closest locality at east in the state of Amazonas, Venezuela, and 470 km north of Loreto, Perú. A new record of C. centralis from the humid forests of the middle Magdalena river is also presented and a match between the distribution of this species and the Chocó-Magdalena province is suggested. Additionally, controversial records of both species are discussed, and a distribution map with confirmed localities is provided.
