The present articule adresses the phenomenon of musians' union organizacions in Bahía Blanca during the first Peronist government. Through the analysis of local and national periodic press, institutional documentation and oral interviews, it focuses on the strike that the musicians of different argentine cities maintained against the owners of radios during September 1946 in order to demand impro vements in salaries and payment of annual bonuses. Even though this article focuses on the Bahia Blanca case, it tries to establish dialogue with other musicians' forms of protest in other cities to enrich the perspective by articulating the local and national scales' protests. It is our purpose to demonstrate that the artists grouped in the Asociación de Músicos Bahienses (AMBA) deployed strategies to legitimize their profession and defend their rights as radio station workers. In turn, this situation marked a breakthrough in their practices since it was the first time that these agents publicly integrated their artistic activity with the labor demands raised to employers and the State.
