In this paper I will try to give an account of the theoretical-metodological criteria for the analysis of the phenomenon of ''street struggle''. This form of social confrontation has been an object of study since the mid-19th century, when it appeared as one of the most dominant ways of social fighting, in the frame of the political and social struggle in europe. In Argentina the 'street struggle' appears towards the end of the sixties and was popularly called ''azos'' (1) or ''puebladas'' (popular uprisings). It's appearance is in an urban context, where the capitalist way of social work division had reached some degree of development. In the nineties, facing the emergence of social confrontation through ''street struggle'', the political and theoretical discussion about the specific nature of this phenomenon arises once again.Here I will present the conceptual axes that must be taken into account in orden to compare these social processes, as well the differences between the cases in each of the two above mentioned decades (1). This term represents the form used in Argentina to express the augmentative form e.g. ''golpe''(a blow) ''golpazo''(a big blow). This form has been adopted to describe the uprising in the area, e.g. the uprising in Tucumán is known as the ''Tucumanazo''.
