PINEAU, Virginia; FERNANDEZ, Guadalupe; SINKA, Laura y ANDRADE, Ariana. FUNCTIONAL MORPHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF THE GLASS MATERIALS FROM THE MARIANO MIRÓ SITE, A VILLAGE AT THE EARLY TWENTIETH CENTURY. (DEPARTMENT OF CHAPALEUFÚ. PROVINCE OF LA PAMPA. ARGENTINA). Comechingonia [online]. 2022, vol.26, n.3, pp.1-10. Epub 01-Dic-2022. ISSN 1851-0027. http://dx.doi.org/10.24215/18521479e027.
Mariano Miró archaeological site was a village that functioned next to the Mariano Miró station on the Western Railway between 1901 and 1913. It was inhabited by European immigrants who populated the north of the province of La Pampa, Argentina, after the extermination of the indigenous people. The archeology team arrived at the site at the request of the province's Ministry of Culture since the teacher and students from the nearby rural school had exhibited some of the materials found on the surface at the Provincial Science Fair. Since 2011 archaeological tasks have been carried out. The materials analyzed in this work come from archaeological collections and from a sample gathered on the surface of the site by students of the neighboring rural school and their teacher. The present work aims to characterize the sample based on a functional morphological analysis of 13510 vitreous fragments from both collections in relation to historical sources such as advertisements of the time. These results will lead to further studies regarding the transformations in consumer practices carried out in the north of the Pampa area as a consequence of the arrival of European immigrants.
