Resumen
LONGO, Agustina. VESSELS IN TIME: CERAMIC PASTES FROM THE FIRST AND SECOND MILLENNIUM A.D. (CA. 0-1500 A.D.) IN THE CENTRAL-WESTERN SECTOR OF THE SANTA MARÍA VALLEY (CATAMARCA-TUCUMÁN). Comechingonia [online]. 2023, vol.27, n.2, pp.7-7. ISSN 1851-0027.
The aim of this paper is to identify changes and continuities in the ceramic pastes of the vessels used in residential spaces of the first and second millennium A.D. (ca. 0-1500 A.D.) in the central-western sector of the Santa María valley (Catamarca-Tucumán). A binocular loupe analysis of the fresh fractures of the pottery recovered from the occupation floors of the archaeological sites Morro del Fraile, El Carmen 1 and El Carmen 2 is carried out. The characteristics of the pastes of the processing and/or storage ware from the three sites and of the service and/or consumption ware from Morro del Fraile and El Carmen 2 suggest certain continuities that cut across the differences in the visual representations and morphologies used over time. The similarities in the service and/or consumption ware between Morro del Fraile and El Carmen 2 and their differences with respect to the site of El Carmen 1 indicate a diversity of contexts within the second millennium A.D., with spaces that suggest changes and spaces that, during the second millennium A.D. exhibit vessels which are similar to those known for the villages of the first millennium A.D.
