This Essay sketches out some moments in Benjamin's reflexions about time and history and offers a genealogy of Benjamin's early interest on the problem of philosophy of history. In contrast to current interpretations of messianism as a monolitic category closely related to jewish theology, I will show that an important turning point in the horizont of changes that this concept experiences along his work opens the possibility to a heterodox reading of this concept. On the other side, taking account of the new kind of relationship with the past that the notion of "dialectical image" enables, I will examinate the importance of Benjamin´s encounter with Proust in the process of giving shape to that notion.
