Resumen

CORTINA, Adela. In Favour of Free Will. A Neuroethical Standpoint. Rev. latinoam. filos. [online]. 2016, vol.42, n.1, pp.15-30. ISSN 1852-7353.

The determinism-free will debate has once more been brought up, this time from the standpoint of neurosciences. A controversy which has taken different forms over history has resurfaced through the works of Kornhuber and Deecke and Libet's experiments. The article is divided into three parts: 1) It sets forth the reasons of the authors who consider that Libet's experiments can be used to endorse determinism, and the reasons of the authors who deem that the results of those experiments do not really affect what we understand by free will; 2) It defends the existence of free will, but goes beyond the traditional opposition between compatibilists and incompatibilists; 3) It considers that the solution lies in a methodical dualism.

Palabras clave : Free will; Determinism; Ethics; Neuroethics; Methods.
