PEREDA, Carlos. On the “Argumentative Turn” in Theory, Including the Theory of Practice and the “Argumentative Turns” in the Several Human Practices. Rev. latinoam. filos. [online]. 2018, vol.44, n.1, pp.9-15. ISSN 1852-7353.
This brief article explores the argumentative turn that Guariglia suggests for politics, focusing in particular in his conception of public reason, inspired in the work of John Rawls and Jürgen Habermas. Its main argument is that an attempt to impose restrictions on the public debate interferes with the normal development of political life. Instead of this, the article sketches an alternative conception that understands politics as a process of reciprocal learning and permanent experimentation which remains constantly open not only to arguments but also to passions.
