The aim of this article is to describe the operations that transform the meme into art. To do so, the artistic and media background of the genre is described and three works by Argentine artist Luciana Ponte, who appropriates the meme, are analyzed. The study intends to contribute to the knowledge of the contemporary links of Argentine art with the new media system and the laughable. The perfection of the analysis is developed in a semiotic reading of Goodman's and Danto's theories of art.
