Resumen
BELINI, Claudio. ISSN 2314-2707.
This paper examines the story of CATD and FANDET between 1940 and 1955. These public companies were established to promote the industrialization of cotton fiber in the producing regions, to encourage industry decentralization, creating new jobs and increasing income for rural families in the North of Argentina. Based on new evidence, it analyzes the institutional transformations and economic performance of these companies. It is argued that this singular experience in the textile industry expressed a marked change of opinion among sectors of the bureaucracy and politicians for deeper intervention in the economic process. The paper explores the impact of these initiatives on a regional and national scale, showing the limits of state-owned companies in the Argentine textile industry.
