Reflections on Tourism and Development Processes of Intervention in Waterfronts. Cases of the Brazilian Cities Recife and Rio de Janeiro. The paper analyzes the process of redevelopment of waterfront areas as one aspect of the transformation of the relationship between ports and cities. The goal is to support the reflection on fostering tourism activities in regeneration projects and integration of these areas to the cities. Therefore, two cases were analyzed in particular, projects by Brazilian cities Recife and Rio de Janeiro. The research literature and documentation associated with the validation method for pairing is support for the process of organizing and analyzing the results. It was decided to use even indicated as key factors for success in intervention projects as indicators to guide the analysis of two cases. The final notes identify the contradictory elements of the process and the complexity of the cases observed.
