Resumen

FRIDMAN, Diego Hernán. Role of the Research Ethics Committees in Nutrition Projects. Diaeta [online]. 2015, vol.33, n.152, pp.17-21. ISSN 1852-7337.

Since the Disposition 5330/97 by the ANMAT, no research study on humans can be performed without the review and approval of a Research Ethics Committee (REC). The REC is responsible for assessing the methodological, ethical and legal aspects as well as ensuring the rights and welfare of participants involved in studies. Any investigation in which human subjects participate, should be evaluated by a REC before starting and periodically thereafter until finished. The Committee has authority to approve, require modifications, disapprove, discontinue or finish an investigation. In order to optimize the timing for the start of a project, it is important to know the filing requirements that are necessary for the REC to make an adequate evaluation.
