In this article I propose an interpretation of the images taken from the photographic exhibition "Zona Desfavorable" / "Unprivileged zone" by Cecilia Gallardo, given the actual concerns of the historiographical field of education. The presence of scholar photography in the history of Argentinean education goes back to the late nineteenth century, since then the camera has recorded the development of school practices, it has portrayed their protagonists -teachers, students-; it has left testimony of their spaces and rituals, amongst other aspects of life in schools, helping to create a valuable body of documentary sources that allow to reconstruct different sections and aspects of the school experience. In addition, the interest in scholar picture has been renewed in recent years as a result of the new ways in which documentalists and photographers record educational events, as well as the strategies and frameworks used by historians to interrogate visual sources. In this case, I lean on Gallardo's images about the Rural School Nº 282 located in "El Desvío" to pose, from a historical perspective, some problems and suggest some approaches to study the forms that the "inland" school, adopts.
