FUENTE, María Cristina; BOVONE, Nora Silvia  e  EPOSTO, Mario Omar. Autoantibodies detected by line immunoassay in seronegative patients by immunofluorescence. Acta bioquím. clín. latinoam. [online]. 2004, vol.38, n.4, pp.495-498. ISSN 0325-2957.

It is known that there is a reduced subgroup of patients with systemic erythematosus lupus (SEL) that result persistently negative to antibodies antinucleus (ANA) during the screening by indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) and, in all of those cases, the use of more sensitive methods allows to detect primarily the anti-Ro and anti-La antibodies. The aim of this study is to investigate the repertory of antibodies detected by line immunoassay screening. 87 negative samples by IIF were collected and then processed by LIA. For the IIF, Hep-2 slides (Kallestad) with an initial dilution of 1/40 were used. For the LIA, Innolia-ANA commercial kit (Innogenetics) was used. As a result, it was found that 10 patients (11,3%) resulted positive for LIA. It is significant that 8/10 (80%) presented only anti-Ro52 or anti-Ro52 and anti-Ro60 and/or anti-La. Anti-Ro60 (50%) and anti-La (40%) follow in frecuency. The relevance of these findings will be determined by the clinical context. Even though these findings could be useful for the LES group with persistently negative screening, these cases have very low frequency and the most common situation is that of patients with a history of positive ANA and corticoids treatment. The sensitivity of LIA to detect thes antibodies is significant.
