The goal of this article is to study how collective memories about the pasts of the Argentinian provinces are mobilized in order to create ideas about them that are reflected in public educational policies. The relation between education and religion in public schools is particularly analyzed. Thus, a case study strategy was selected based on the analysis of both the public-social debate and the parliamentary debate on the latest education law in the province of Chaco. The analysis allowed to conclude that there is indeed a strong relationship between collective memories, ideas of province, and the framing of the relationship between education and religion in public schools.
