RIVERA, Lucía; GONZALEZ, Roberto e GUERRA, Marcelino. Expelled from security. teacher precariousness in Mexico. Trab. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.22, n.37, pp.569-587. Epub 01-Jul-2021. ISSN 1514-6871.
The precariousness of wage labor began several decades ago, with the help of so-called economic globalization. Teachers in Mexico have not remained on the sidelines of this transformation; their previously secure work has become unstable; the educational reform carried out in the period 2013-2018 further violated their rights and working conditions, as well as their image in society. The government that took office in December 2018 again changed the legal and institutional framework that regulates education; however, there are still demands, disagreements and grievances among teachers. The purpose of this article is to analyse when the process of precarization of teaching work began, what are its signs and how it became a structural condition of teachers. By collecting news and following up on Facebook accounts created by teachers, reasons for teachers' protests and mobilizations during the first year of the government were identified. It is concluded that precarization is an inseparable process of the changes made in the education system over the course of thirty years. However, the great achievement of the 2013 reform was to assemble various vectors of change that had been disjointed until then.
