The occupational segregation is a phenomenon that refers to the concentration of the population in certain economic fields and occupations. There is gender occupational segregation when women occupy certain positions dominated by women, and men others, dominated by men. This article aims to quantify gender occupational segregation in Argentina using data from the National Survey of Workers on Conditions of Employment, Work, Health and Safety (ECETSS in Spanish) and analyze how it is associated with certain family, educational and cohort related factors, differentiating between the formal and informal segments. For this, in addition to calculating the traditional indicators of segregation, the parameters of a beta regression were estimated to analyze correlations. It was found that there is segregation, which is associated with family restrictions faced by women and that it is more intense in the non-formal segment. No conclusive evidence was found on the relationship between birth cohorts and the greater or lesser propensity to enter more or less masculinized industries or occupations. The little that could be seen in this regard seems to indicate that the younger cohorts of women are less likely than the older ones to enter industries with a greater presence of male occupation and that the younger men's cohorts, a greater probability than the older ones. Extrapolating consequences for segregation, it could be argued that this would be an obstacle to future progress in reducing its level.
