Studies on cabinets of ministers in Latin America have grown significantly in the last decade. This article analyzes the characteristics of ministerial elites and their paths in Argentina, with special emphasis on the type of expertise, skills and social anchors that prevail in the different types of ministries. Emphasis is placed on the interlocutors and the type of tasks that each portfolio undertakes, and on the relationship of ministerial profiles with those challenges. In particular, it is shown that the different areas of intervention ("social", "economic" or "political", according to Altman's classification, 2008) correspond to specific professional profiles, skills and social anchors on the part of their ministers. The information comes from an original database on the social, educational and political-professional trajectories of the ministers from 1983 until 2019, as well as from press archives on each period, specialized bibliography and secondary material.
