The essay aims to read the quality of working life through a multidimensional sociological perspective. Placing itself from the worker's point of view, an analytical model tested in some research paths is presented. The quality of working life is understood as the relationship between work - declined in organisational models and processes and in the social organisation of work - and the person - declined in needs, meanings attributed to work and aspirations. By studying this relationship between field (organisational) and habitus (of the person) it is possible to grasp the level of self-determination of the person and observe the space of criticism towards the working condition reserved for the worker.
