VERA, Paula. Disputas en la construcción simbólica de las ciudades: El caso Rosario. Trama comun. [online]. 2012, vol.16, n.1, pp.69-86. ISSN 1668-5628.

The cities can be considered to be one of the most complex human constructions and as such they are an object of numerous symbolic controversies involving various social actors, urban imaginaries, social practices and material transformations. With the aim to analyze how epistemological disputes intersect with the different logics that coexist in the construction of the cities, we propose to centre on the disputes of senses on the city. For it the modern postulates of the simplicity - associated with functionalist and rationalist currents of the ' 30 and ' 70- are confronted by the emergent ones of the complexity - present in the social sciences since the 80- and, in turn, there are analyzed how they act in the conformation of the city and in the diverse meanings that constitute it. There takes the case of Rosario's city that in 2010 was the scene of many discussions that allowed identifying social actors and urban projects from which it was possible to know the meanings that are constructing the city. After the qualitative analysis of documents, participant observation and interviews this work concludes with a mapping of imaginaries organized in two big conceptual categories: city designed and constructed city.
