In this article we point out narrative resources by which the story of "Small Mouths Painted" (1969) by Manuel Puig refers to some conformations of the shaping mass media that proliferated in Argentina in the early decades of the twentieth century. From this hypothesis we understand that the Puig's book is already thinking about how the media articulate social relations and we interpret it as a literary symptom of broader processes, which are the cultural, political and communication.
