This article presents the results of a research on the impact of communication and technologies in the knowledge management, the organizational learning and the construction of autonomy in an Argentinian public university. Learning organizations are characterized and the communicative practices and the organizational learning within groups of teachers are examined, providing an innovative approach to the study of knowledge management regarding the communicational perspective and its interpretation in the framework of the project of autonomy. The case analysis shows that, although the university structures evidence adequate structures for the production of knowledge, their lack of articulation with the university strategic project causes the loss of information and knowledge that might be used. Although in the practice of teachers some innovative trends are noticed, teams do not perform systematic planning to observe, review and modify their behavior and learn from the results obtained.
