FERNANDEZ GRECCO, R. Dinámica del crecimiento de una pastura de agropiro alargado de acuerdo con la época de fertilización nitrogenada. RIA. Rev. investig. agropecu. [online]. 2013, vol.39, n.2, pp.162-168. ISSN 1669-2314.
Tall wheatgrass Thinopyrum ponticum (Bark and Dewey) pastures in the Pampa Buenos Aires, in general, are considered crops that concentrate growth during late spring to midsummer, with poor forage production and of low nutritional value for animal production. In the EEA INTA Balcarce two trials were conducted on a pasture of tall wheatgrass in order to evaluate the effect of nitrogen fertilization on the dynamics of growth and accumulation of forage during two seasons: autumn-winter and spring, using 6 doses of nitrogen (DN) N0 to N250, with increments of 50 kgNha-1 and using urea as nitrogen source. The winter period was extended from 05/18 to 09/03, while in the spring evaluation the trial was conducted between 08/28 and 12/04. In both periods forage accumulation showed significant differences (p <0.05) to the addition of N, being the maximum value found during springtime, with 6200 kg DMha-1, with growth rates of 84 kg DMha-1day-1, while in the winter period the maximum value achieved was 4600 kg DMha-1 with maximum growth rates of 43 kg DMha-1day-1. The results obtained showed that wheatgrass pastures may increase the forage accumulation through proper mineral nutrition in both seasons.
